They say that photography has been in existence for over 1,000 years. There are even those who truly believe that the Shroud of Turin is nothing more than a very good photograph from the middle ages. Whatever the case, it is one of the most rewarding mediums we have to record events, create art, save memories, and so much more. Indeed, we’re constantly finding more and more ways to incorporate photography in our lives.
Wikipedia calls photography:
The science, art and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically be means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film. (attributed to: Spencer, D A (1973). The Focal Dictionary of Photographic Technologies. Focal Press. p. 454. ISBN978-0133227192.)
That being the case, where would the world be without photography and what are its contributions? Nearly all of us have a camera on our cell phones. Selfies are rampant and the word itself is now lauded in the dictionary. Where would the news media be without those of us with camera phones! There are those who choose to use it for ill rather than good which unfortunately is always the case. There are always pluses and minuses with everything we do. Always something to diminish the good in things. But we don’t let that stop us or get us down.
Our site is new but we plan to add lots to it over the months and years ahead to share some really good tips and ideas to help us amateurs who just love taking photos! We’re also going to include ideas from other professional photographers in our area. If you’ve got some ideas, let us know. Just go to the contact page and send us a note.
